What We Treat

Hip and knee pain treatment in Midland.

Stairs you take one at a time now. The squat you quietly stopped doing. Hips and knees share the load, so we look at both before we treat either.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • You take the stairs one at a time, and it is always the same leg leading
  • Getting out of the truck starts with a hand on the door frame
  • Standing up out of a low chair takes the armrest and a second to gather yourself
  • You sleep on one side only, because the other hip wakes you up at 2am
  • You kneel on the good knee to get down to your kid’s level
  • Socks happen sitting down now, because crossing that leg pinches in the hip crease

Why It Happens

Where it hurts is not always where it starts.

Your hips and knees have one job together: carrying you. So when one of them stops doing its share, the other one pays the bill. A hip that quietly lost its rotation. A glute that never came back after an old injury. A kneecap that tracks a few degrees off, every single step. Cartilage with real miles on it. An ankle you rolled years ago and never rehabbed.

None of that announces itself, and almost none of it lives in the spot that hurts. That is why we look at both joints, plus how you walk and how you load them, before we treat either one. A cause-first evaluation is how you get to the root of it instead of guessing. Treat the sore spot alone and all you have is the band-aid, which is exactly why it keeps coming back.

The Honest Truth

A joint does not get stronger while you avoid it.

If you keep waiting

  • The good leg starts doing double duty, and then the good leg starts hurting too
  • Your life quietly shrinks to the flat version of itself: no ladders, no floor, no long walks
  • The muscles that hold the joint steady keep getting weaker from all the avoiding

If you start this week

  • You leave visit one knowing which joint is actually driving this
  • Hands-on work starts the same day, not after a round of scans
  • A plan with an endpoint: the phase you are in, and what is left

Nobody regrets starting too early. You are the one who keeps everybody else moving, which is exactly why this knee has waited so long for its turn.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for hips and knees.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here is what the four phases look like when two joints share one load.

Starts visit one

Pain

Take the edge off it.

Manual therapy on the joint and the tissue around it, plus dry needling if it fits, so you can move without guarding. Hands-on work starts your first visit.

Once the pain settles

Prime

Give the hip its motion back.

A stiff hip is often why the knee is angry. We restore rotation and extension up top, then retrain how the two joints split a single step.

Once it moves freely again

Perform

Make it strong enough to trust.

Glutes, quads and hamstrings loaded on purpose, built toward stairs, squats and hills. Blood flow restriction lets us build strength with lighter weight when the joint will not take heavy yet.

Before you are cleared

Prevent

Leave with it handled.

We test the things you stopped doing, under real load, and you go home knowing how to keep both joints working. That is the endpoint, not another appointment.

I was referred to Cultivate Wellness after 6 months of constant foot pain, after going to 3 different specialists in Midland… My first consultation I felt heard for the first time in months, and after just 2 sessions, we discovered my pain was coming from my hip. I was given a customized treatment that has me now 100% pain free!

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for a hip or knee.

Usually not, and it is rarely the first step. Plenty of people have joint wear or a meniscus change on their imaging and no pain at all, so a picture does not always point at the cause. We start with a hands-on evaluation of the hip and the knee together to find what is actually driving your symptoms, and if imaging turns out to be genuinely necessary, we help you get it. In Texas you do not need a physician referral to see a physical therapist, so nothing has to happen before you start.

In most cases the right movement helps more than rest does. Hurt does not always mean harm, and sitting still lets the muscles that support the joint get weaker, which makes the next flare worse. The whole skill is choosing the right load for your joint and building on it. That gets sorted at your evaluation, one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit, and anything that flares you up gets changed rather than pushed through.

That depends on which joint is driving it and how long you have been dealing with it, so you get a straight answer at your evaluation instead of a number off a web page. Your plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent, and you leave the first visit knowing what is wrong, roughly how long yours should take, and what happens next. That is a plan with an endpoint, not an open tab of appointments.
