What We Treat

Back pain and sciatica treatment in Midland.

The twinge that decides whether today is a good day. The burning line down one leg that starts before you are out of the car. It is fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • You sit on the front edge of the chair at dinner, because leaning back sets the leg off.
  • You put your shoes on with your foot up on the couch, or you do not put them on.
  • A cough or a sneeze sends a bolt straight down the back of one leg.
  • You know which grocery aisles have something to lean on halfway down.
  • One foot has gone numb often enough that you have started checking on it.
  • Nobody else in the house needs the driver seat as far back as you have it.

Why It Happens

Back pain is a symptom. Something causes it.

Your back is not hurting for no reason, and it is almost never one thing. It is usually a stack. A disc that is irritated and referring pain down the leg. Spinal joints that got stiff and quit sharing the load. Deep muscles that went quiet after the last flare-up and never came back. And the way you sit, bend and lift all day, which reloads the same spot before it ever finishes healing.

Sciatica is that same story with a nerve in it. Something is crowding or irritating the nerve, and your leg is where you feel it, not where the problem lives. That is why chasing the calf never works. A cause-first evaluation sorts out which piece of the stack is driving today’s pain, so we can get to the root of it instead of handing you the band-aid: rest, ice, and a printed sheet of stretches.

The Honest Truth

Waiting on a back doesn’t make it wait on you.

If you keep waiting

  • The leg becomes the thing you plan your day around, not the back
  • You stop bending, so the muscles with one job, protecting your spine, get worse at it
  • Your hips and knees take over the load and start sending a bill of their own

If you start this week

  • Visit one ends with the cause named, not a guess about your discs
  • Hands-on work on the stiff segments starts before you leave the building
  • You learn the exercises that actually work for your back, and when you are done with them

Nobody regrets starting too early.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for your back.

You are the one everyone else leans on, which is exactly why your back is the last thing anybody has looked at. Here is what the four phases look like for it.

Starts visit one

Pain

Quiet the nerve down.

Manual therapy and dry needling take the edge off the irritated nerve and the muscles clamped around it, starting your first visit.

Once the pain settles

Prime

Get your motion back.

Spinal manipulation and targeted mobility work wake up the segments that went stiff and stopped carrying their share.

Once it moves freely again

Perform

Make it strong enough to trust.

Core and hip strengthening, built up week by week, gives your spine the base it has been missing the whole time.

Before you are cleared

Prevent

Bend and lift without thinking about it.

You leave with the maintenance work that keeps a back strong, and you know how to handle a bad day. That is the endpoint, not another appointment.

Jordan not only helped with the low back issues but helped to teach us to manage it and work through which sets of exercises were best and continue on healthy back strength maintenance!

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for back pain.

Usually not, and it is rarely the first step. Backs improve all the time without a scan, and imaging of people with no pain at all routinely turns up disc bulges and wear and tear, so a picture does not always point at the cause. We start with a hands-on evaluation to find what is actually driving your symptoms, and if imaging becomes genuinely necessary we will help you get it. Texas has direct access too, so you do not need a physician referral to be seen by a physical therapist. Waiting on a scan is usually just waiting.

Yes, and in most cases moving beats resting. Hurt does not always mean harm. Total rest leaves a back stiffer and weaker, which is what sets up the next flare-up. What matters is which movement, how much of it, and in what order for your back. That is what the evaluation decides, one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit. If something genuinely should not be loaded yet, we will tell you and work around it.

We will tell you at the end of the evaluation, once we know what is driving it and how long it has been going on. Guessing before we look at you would not be worth much. What you can count on is a plan with an endpoint: the four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent, each with a job and a way to know you have earned the next one. If cost is the part you are really asking about, take the free benefits check first. We are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, 90 Degree Benefit, UMR and Curative, and we will tell you what your plan covers before you commit.
