What We Treat

Sports injury treatment in Midland.

Cleared to play is not the same as ready to play. A cause-first evaluation finds what actually failed, then we test the thing your sport asks of you before we sign off.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • Cleared to play by somebody who never watched you cut, sprint or land
  • Taping the same ankle before every practice and calling that a fix
  • Landing noticeably harder on one leg without meaning to
  • Warmups feel fine and the fourth quarter sends you the bill
  • Your kid asking when they can go back and you not having an answer
  • An old injury that quietly decides how hard you are allowed to push

Two or more? Keep reading. We treat youth and adult athletes from Midland, Odessa and Stanton.

Why It Happens

The injury is the event. Something set it up.

Something gave out on one play. It had usually been getting set up for a while. Four things show up again and again: a joint that lost range, so the joint next to it took the strain. Strength that never came all the way back from the last injury. Training load that climbed faster than the tissue could adapt. And a landing, a cut or a throw that puts the force through the wrong place, every single rep.

Rest and ice calm the injury down. They do not touch any of the four. That is why so many athletes come back, feel fine for a few weeks, then blow the same thing again. A cause-first evaluation names the failure and the reason for it, so you fix both. You have been the one who plays through things, which is exactly why this one is still hanging around.

The Honest Truth

The season does not wait for you to feel better.

If you keep waiting

  • You keep training around it, and the compensation becomes your new normal
  • You go back on a guess, and the same thing goes again in the same spot
  • The strength you lost while sitting out has to be rebuilt before you can play anyway

If you start this week

  • You know what failed, and what let it fail, by the end of visit one
  • You keep training everything that is healthy while we fix the part that is not
  • You get a plan with an endpoint, and a return-to-sport test you have to pass

Nobody regrets starting too early. Cleared to play and ready to play are not the same thing, and only one of them holds up.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for your sport.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here is what the four phases look like for an athlete, one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit.

Starts visit one

Pain

Take the heat out of it.

Hands-on work, cupping and cryotherapy settle the injured tissue down, starting your very first visit.

Once the pain settles

Prime

Get the motion back first.

We give back the range and the control the injury took, so you are not compensating the moment you speed up.

Once it takes load again

Perform

Rebuild it under real load.

Sports rehab and progressive strength work, plus blood flow restriction training when we need to build strength before the tissue can take heavy weight.

Before you are cleared

Prevent

Ready, not just cleared.

The cut, the landing, the sprint, the throw, whatever your sport demands, gets tested before we sign off. That is the endpoint, not another appointment.

I lived with mobility issues and pain because I thought it would eventually go away or I could just push through it. You don’t have to! The issues I walked in with have all been corrected by Cultivate in a short amount of time. Your entire session is with the same PT so your quality of care week in and week out is exceptional.

Questions, Answered

What athletes ask before booking.

No. Texas has direct access, so no physician referral is needed to see a physical therapist here, and waiting on one costs you time you do not have in a season. Imaging is rarely the first step either, because a scan shows structure and not the movement that failed. We start with a hands-on, cause-first evaluation and watch you move. If imaging turns out to be genuinely necessary, we help you get it.

Almost never. Full shutdown costs you fitness and strength you then have to win back, which is its own risk. We keep training everything that is healthy and change only the loading that is feeding the injury. That is a judgment call about your body and your sport, and you get it one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit, not from a printout.

It depends on what the evaluation finds, and you will not be left guessing about it. You leave the first visit with a plan with an endpoint: what is wrong, roughly how long it takes, and what happens next. The plan runs the four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent, and Prevent ends with a test on your actual sport rather than another appointment. We are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, 90 Degree Benefit, UMR and Curative, and a free benefits check tells you the cost before you start.
