What We Treat

Tendinitis treatment in Midland.

It only hurts when you use it, which is every day. Tendons heal under load, not rest, and the right amount of load is the whole skill.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • A sore spot so exact you can cover it with one fingertip
  • Stiff and tender right there every morning until it warms up
  • Fine while you are moving, then it bills you that night
  • Backing off until it calms down, then flaring the moment you go back
  • Ibuprofen before, ice after, every single time
  • Squeezing a steering wheel, a club or a handrail and feeling it light up

Two or more? That is a tendon telling you the load is wrong, not that you are done.

Why It Happens

Tendinitis is a symptom. Something overloaded that tendon.

A tendon is the rope between muscle and bone, and it gets stronger by being worked. It gets angry when the work outruns what it can currently handle. That happens four common ways: the load went up faster than the tendon could adapt. You came back at your old volume after time off. A stiff or weak joint nearby quietly handed this tendon extra work. Or the same motion, the same grip, the same angle, reloads it before it has recovered.

Rest is the usual advice, and it does calm a tendon down. It also lets the tendon get weaker while you wait, which is why the pain comes back the moment you return to what you love. Tendons need load to heal. A cause-first evaluation works out where the extra load came from and how much this tendon can take right now. You are the type who trains through things and gets on with it. This is the one that does not respond to that.

The Honest Truth

Rest calms a tendon down. It does not build one back.

If you keep waiting

  • You rest it, go back, and find the same tendon waiting for you
  • The tendon gets weaker while you avoid it, so less and less sets it off
  • You trim the activity down to fit around the pain, until there is not much activity left

If you start this week

  • You find out what overloaded it, not just where it hurts
  • You get loading you can actually do, dosed for what the tendon can take now
  • You get a plan with an endpoint, and a way to know you have earned the next phase

Nobody regrets starting too early. A tendon does not need you to stop, it needs the right amount of work.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for a tendon.

Every plan has an endpoint. Tendons heal under load, and dosing that load is the skill, one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit.

Starts visit one

Pain

Turn the volume down.

Manual therapy, IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization) and dry needling if you want it, to settle the tendon enough to start working it. Starts your first visit.

Once it settles

Prime

Fix what handed it the extra work.

Mobility and control work above and below the tendon, so it stops covering for a stiff or weak neighbor.

Once it takes load

Perform

Load it on purpose.

Loading built up on purpose, starting at what the tendon can take today and climbing from there. This is the phase that actually makes a tendon stronger.

Before you are cleared

Prevent

Take it back for good.

We test the tendon in the real thing, the job, the sport, the hobby, and you leave knowing exactly what to do when it grumbles again. That is the endpoint, not another appointment.

Jordan not only helped with the low back issues but helped to teach us to manage it and work through which sets of exercises were best and continue on healthy back strength maintenance!

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for tendinitis.

Neither is usually the place to start. Texas has direct access, so no physician referral is needed to see a physical therapist here. Imaging is rarely the first step with a tendon either: scans of tendons that feel completely fine often show wear, and a picture cannot tell us how much load yours can handle today. That answer comes from a hands-on, cause-first evaluation. If imaging turns out to be genuinely necessary, we help you get it.

Loading it is usually part of the fix, not a risk to avoid. Tendons get stronger by being worked, and full rest lets them get weaker while the pain settles, which is why it flares again the moment you go back. Hurt does not always mean harm here. The skill is the dose: enough to build the tendon, not enough to light it up. You get that dosed and adjusted one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit.

Tendons move at their own pace, so we will not hand you a number we invented before we have seen yours. What you do get on the first visit is a plan with an endpoint: what is wrong, roughly how long it takes, and what happens next. The plan runs the four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent, and each one has a job you can feel and a marker you have to hit before the next. We are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, 90 Degree Benefit, UMR and Curative, and a free benefits check tells you the cost before you start.
